(SERMON) John 10.10-21 I AM The Good Shepherd

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leads us into life to the full.  He does this by dying in our place  for our sins: He lays down His life for His sheep.  In this and this alone is true peace and hope, something I know from my own life experiences of wrestling with darkness and depression.

Would you lay down your life for Jesus or when persecution and false teaching come will you flee like a hired hand?  Ultimately, only Jesus can open our eyes and the eyes of those we love to the wonders of His mercy and love - do you pray for Him to do so each day?

(SERMON) I AM the Gate - John 10.1-10

In our first of two sermons on John 10 we consider three questions raised by the first two 'shepherdry' images.

Are you a sheep following the song of the Shepherd Saviour who flees from false teachers?

Are you secure and safe in the sheepfold having come through The Gate?

Are you living in the good green pastures of peace and joy  which we can enter into now through The Gate?

(SERMON) Practising and Preaching

This Palm Sunday baptism service we think on the teaching of the Common Worship collect prayer for Palm Sunday. Our all-powerful Father loves us with a tender love - and this truth transforms our prayer life. Our God loves us with a sacrificial love based on freely given grace - we don't deserve or earn His love but He gave up everything for us anyway. This sacrificial love compels us to follow Jesus with both word and deed into true life.
