(SERMON) Spiritual Gifts and Appointed Leaders - Hebrews 13

If all Christians are gifted saints called to a ministry in the church, what does this mean for ordained/appointed ministers who preside over congregations? Is having ministers biblical and if so what is their role and how do church members relate to them?

(SERMON) Ascended Christ, Present Healing, Sovereign God [Romans 8]

The ascension of Christ to the right hand of God where He right now is praying for us is a glorious truth.  It gives us confidence that God acts and heals today in miraculous ways.  But any theology of healing must be held with a view of God's completely sovereignty - "our God is in Heaven, He does whatever He wants" (Psalm 115.3) which means God does not need our permission to act and if He does not heal then there is a reason which is, though we cannot understand, good and holy.

(SERMON) Revelatory Gifts - 1 Corinthians 12 and 14

Are the 'spiritual gifts' still active today, especially prophecy and words of knowledge, tongues and discerning the spirits -  and if so what does it look like to use them biblically?

(SERMON) Amos 7.1-18 - the Sovereign God and the Opposition

Firstly; God controls nature, God controls the earth, God controls all things - He is sovereign and King and this should make us bold and empowered in our prayer life knowing that whatever our prayer God can answer it. That God uses and is involved in natural disasters is a foundational and classically Anglican doctrine which we need to rediscover.
Secondly; true faithfulness to God will bring persecution and lies and slander, be prepared for this but trust that God is sovereign.

(SERMON) Empowered Gifts - Romans 12

According to Paul, God has not only given each of us the faith we have in Jesus, but has also gifted us.  We are all gifted saints called to work towards a common goal: the building up of the church and the growth of the Kingdom.  There is no such thing as a 'lone ranger Christian' because we are all 'one body' and we all have a function in the local church.  It is important that we search ourselves to discover our gifts and talents before understanding how God empowers and calls us to use them as part of an all member ministry in the church,
